Modernizing Lisbon’s ticketing system with Oracle Cloud
At Linkroad, we helped Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML) modernize and optimize its critical ticketing platform by migrating it to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The project delivered a scalable, secure, and high-performing system capable of supporting millions of transactions daily. With a managed services model, TML now ensures 24/7 availability, enhanced security, and cost-efficient operations, paving the way for future integration with Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions.
Lisbon Ticketing Platform Cloud Migration on OCI
Objective: To modernize TML’s ticketing platform by migrating from legacy infrastructure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ensuring high availability, resilience, and compliance while reducing operational costs.
We migrated TML’s ticketing platform to a multi-region, high-availability Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment. Core backend services such as fare calculation, ticket validation, and transaction logging were containerized with Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) and supported by Oracle Autonomous Database. Legacy monoliths were modularized into stateless microservices (Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, Python) for scalability. Security was reinforced with OCI Firewall, IAM, and automated monitoring. A 24/7 managed services model was implemented using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and ITIL v4 best practices, ensuring secure, automated, and cost-efficient operations.
TML’s cloud migration showcases how public transportation providers can embrace digital transformation to achieve resilience, scalability, and smarter mobility services.
